And, to all of my French friends, Bonne Fete! C’est le quatorze juillet — or what we call Bastille Day — and there’ll be fireworks and firemen’s balls. I always buy tickets to the balls (the firemen are not just heroes, they’re cute, and when they stop you and offer to hold your bag of groceries while you search for coins, they’re irresistible), but I’ve yet to go … maybe next year.
