James Beard Cookbook Awards: A toast to talented friends

Amanda Hesser and Merrill Stubbs, whose Food 52 won for Best Publication of the Year, sharing the award with Darra Goldstein for Gastronomica, the journal she started a decade ago.

Elissa Altman, who won the Individual Blog Award (I can’t even imagine how many entrants there were in this category) for her always literate and beautifully written Poor Man’s Feast.

Lettie Teague, whom I still think of as a kid just starting out, won for Food-Related Columns (weren’t they about wine???) for her work in the Wall Street Journal.

Alan Richman, incomparable, won the Craig Claiborne Distinguished Restaurant Review Award for this work in GQ

John T Edge, who waves the Southern food flag with such intelligence and style, won the MFK Distinguished Writing Award for his article, BBQ Nation in Saveur.

Congratulations to all!
