It’s a little small, but what I’m holding is a CookieBar French Vanilla Sable. The CulinApp team and I gave away 1,000 of these sweeties in Brush Park, right across the street from the HIlton Hotel, which was home to the annual conference of the International Association of Culinary Professionals, and the thing that brought us to good-eating Austin. It was all pretty swell: The CulinApp Team, Bob, Chris Howard, who’s programming the app, and Geoffrey Drummond, he of (among other tv series) Julia, Jacques and Julia, Lydia and Avec Eric fame, who produced all the video (and there’s tons of it) for Baking with Dorie, were in the A-stream giving sneak peeks of the still-in-development app (it should be ready by July), while I got to see old friends, meet new ones and munch cookies with everyone. Not a bad way to spend a Friday.
And on Sunday, we packed up our caravan and flew home. I was afraid I might be charged for extra weight because my luggage was a bit heavier this time around. I was returning home with the IACP Cookbook of the Year Award for Around My French Table! Thrilling! Moving! Okay, tear-making. And sooooo exciting.
